In 1974, Joseph and Annie Naomi Scott combined their resources with those of their fellow sisters and brothers in Christ to manifest the vision “Mother Scott” had of a Christian youth center in Milwaukee’s inner city.

At that time, the family culture and structure were changing. Mother Scott knew the importance of having a place her grandchildren AND the children in the community could participate in recreational activities and bible study to counter the negative changes happening around them. The Scott Christian Youth Fellowship and Recreational Center was established (affectionately called “the Center”).

From there, offering summer Bible camps and healthy recreational activities for children, Mother Scott also felt led to help the whole family and single adults in the area with their basic natural and spiritual needs. The Center’s name was later changed to Scott Christian Youth and Family Center Inc. (“SCYFC”).

Mother Scott saw firsthand how painful and depressing poverty’s grip was in the community. From 1974 until she departed in 2016, she focused her life’s energy towards showing compassion to those in need, sharing the love she received from God and connecting the needy to those who were also willing to help.

SCYFC has been blessed to continue its services for almost 50 years through the miraculous and contagious spirit of volunteerism and giving.

WE CAN REACH MORE TOGETHER than we can alone and in doing so, we remind those in need that they are NOT ALONE.

The SCYFC’s LEGACY of SERVING continues and we pray you’ll feel a desire to GIVE and/or SERVE in anyway you can! God bless you for your tax deductible donations to nonprofit organizations such as SCYFC.
